Touch screen
technologies
An overview of most of our
LCDs that are available with touch screen can be found here.
This includes LCDs from 6,4'' to 32'' solutions for sunlight,
rack assembly, weather resistant, 12V DC, 24V DC and more.
Touch screens have developed over time according to various
areas of use. For example, a resistive touch screen would be
hard to get approved for use in places where explosions can
occur. An IR touch screen could provide problems in medical or
military use. An inductive touch screen solution could not be
used where people use work gloves as no voltage pass through the
gloves. Now we also have touch screens based on sound waves, so
called Surface Acoustic Waves (SAW).
Today touch screen solutions are used everywhere to achieve
greater useability and to avoid the use of a mouse, keyboard or
joystick. All the touch screens we provide come with either an
RS232 interface or USB interface, as opposed to/for i.e. PC (or
Panel-PC).
Irontech can provide all of the technologies for both the
Panel-PC solutions and the separate LCD screens (rack mounted,
panel mounted, detached, IP class and weather resistant screens,
open frame for mounting etc.) that you can read about in the
link above. We recommend our clients to have the touch screen
solution assembled on the screen rather than trying to do it
yourself.
Touch screens can be used on most screen sizes.
Typical areas of use are:
-
Cash registers
-
Public transport terminals
like airports and bus stations
-
Ticket machines
-
Gaming and entertainment
equipment
-
Public telephones
-
Solutions for active
marketing
-
ATMs
-
Food industries
-
Industrial control systems
-
Medicinal
equipment
The various technologies are
not available for all sizes of the LCD screens. This goes
especially for the large screens i.e. the 32'' where we would
have to use touch screen solutions based on SAW.
Below we have made a simplified table which describes some of
the technical aspects of the various solutions. By browsing
that, you will be able to find the product that suits your
needs.
